About Hausfits Designs Studio

 

As a hands-on designer, I’m passionate about working with recycled timber to create beautiful, natural functional pieces made with skill, time, and patience. My design process flows organically, inspired by the timber species and grain character to find that something special and allow it to flourish through quality craftsmanship.  

 

All of my products are imperfectly perfect, as they reflect the embodiment of each timbers spirit. I’m grateful I get to bring each piece’s raw character and natural beauty to life a second time–sharing its unique story with the world. 

 
 

The Studio’s Aim

The Studio provides a nurturing space for clients to feel supported to unravel creatively. I take the overwhelming emotion of designing out of the equation and step people through a clear design process. I work closely with local quality manufacturers and craftspeople with shared values to create one-off, functional, beautiful pieces to be enjoyed for years.

creative, ethical, nature lover

Designing and making are my passion. Natures meticulous detail spurred me on to expand from interiors to hand making furniture. Based in Naarm/Melbourne, I delight in a good coffee, family time and daily walks with my dogs in nature—my harmoniser and ongoing inspiration. I always try to consider sustainable options within my work and home environments.

How did I get here?

  • Workshop

    I create quality furnishings and homewares using recycled timbers and sustainable materials. I work from my home workshop, making each design by hand, in small-batch quantities. Sustainability, functionality, and collaboration with other local makers are at the heart of my process

  • My Study

    I studied Interior Decoration & Design in the UK whilst raising a young family. Realising I had an underlying love of detail, I went on to study Furniture Design at RMIT in Melbourne. Both areas' functional and technical skills and design principles constantly entwine to add value to clients briefs.

  • Lessons From Overseas

    My design philosophy and outlook on life are heavily influenced by observing other cultures throughout my travels and living overseas for eleven years. Having three children abroad taught me the importance of community and the resilience of women. I live by the philosophy “never say never.”
